Holidays and Celebrations

Be part of local ceremonies and holidays!
The farmer community follows the ancient Ethiopian Orthodox Christianity.
All the numerous holidays are highly resprected and celebrated in the community.
If you come at the right time you have a chance to be part of a yearly celebration for Easter, Christmas, etc. They are often connected to the tradition of horse races or hockey games.
You are also welcome if there is a wedding celebration or babtism, etc.

There is also the tradition of „Mehaber“: a group of farmers meet every month in a farmers house, rotating, every month another family hosts the whole group.
Every issue of the community is discussed there and a lot of food and local beer is served.

for Mehaber: 200 ETB per person (about 7 €); you contribute this to the celebration and the community!
